Choose Your Own Adventure
“Choose Your Own Adventure” activities are structured around a theme and allow for a set number of options for teachers to choose from. Normally, the activities are differentiated based on either interests or skill levels. In this model, the learning outcome is similar for participants but the method of delivering it will be different based on the activities. This model will still allow teachers to choose activities that best match their interests while at the same time reaching the same learning goal. We used this model as a follow up to our summer reading, “Invent to Learn”; faculty chose maker stations based on their interests. We included coding and design programs, three types of circuits, and crafts based on Pinterest. In the end, everyone made something that appealed to their interests. We used iPads to record our faculty exploring new media and then followed up by having teachers share their thoughts and suggestions on a Google Doc.
